Task
The filter is one of the major subsystems in wireless power transmission systems. Specifically, the bandpass filter plays an important role where transmitted and received signals have to be filtered at a certain frequency with a specific bandwidth. This project addresses the design, fabrication and testing of a bandpass filter in the ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. The ISM band is highly favourable as it is an unlicensed band and is free foruse. The two ISM bands of interest in this project are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, the primary WiFi bands. This project requires the design of a bandpass filter with good selectivity to curtail interference. The required specifications areprovided in the objectives, and the project will be realised using the MATLAB.
Primary objectives:
1. Design of a dualband bandpass filter with the following specifications:
a. Passband:
i. Band 1: 2.4 GHz – 2.5 GHz
ii. Band 2: 5.235 GHz – 5.350 GHz
b. Return Loss in for both bands to be better than 15 dB;
c. Attenuation for both bands to be better than 30 dB;
d. Input and Output Port: 50
2. Simulate the performance of the designed filter using MATLAB.
3. Implement the designed using CST.
4. Evaluate and appraise your design's performance.
