Highlights
Task 1
Model the “Woolworths online shopping service” process from the company perspective using eEPC notation in Signavio Process Modeller. Consider adding any necessary resources such as: organisation, position/role, system, and/or any data object.
Task 2
Model the “Woolworths Priority Assistance service” process from the company perspective using eEPC notation in Signavio Process Modeller. Combine “Priority Assistance service” process model with “Online shopping service” process model. Consider adding any necessary resources such as: organisation, position/role, system, and/or any data object.
Due to COVID-19, Woolworths introduced a new service known as “Priority Assistance”. Priority Assistance helps prioritise those in genuine need, these include seniors, people with a disability, those with compromised immunity and those in mandatory isolation. If a customer is eligible for the Priority Assistance service, then the customer will have the priority to process his/her order for delivery and pick up by selecting the delivery or pick up time that is convenient for him/her.

Part 2
Background
Students apply for a university postgraduate course and have previous study or professional experience, they may be eligible for advanced standing or recognition of prior learning. This process recognises students’ current qualifications or training and can allow students to reduce the number of units they need to study through a credit transfer and still be awarded university qualification.
Advanced standing recognises students’ prior formal learning, e.g. diplomas or degrees, and compares units studied in that learning with proposed university units. Recognition of prior learning assesses students’ prior work experience and professional development or other training undertaken while employed.
In order to apply, students must create an online account using the university online platform, complete an online application form, provide required admission information, and then submit the application. If the student has completed prior formal learning or prior work experience and professional development, then the application is obliged to go through “advanced standing” or “Recognition of prior learning” process. Students can specify upfront whether their application is a claim for advanced standing or recognition of other prior learning achieved outside the formal education and training system.
For more information about student admission, refer to ECU “2021 Undergraduate Course Guide”- page 115-117:
Advanced standing
All students are required to nominate their major area of study prior to submitting an application and to specify the units that they are seeking exemption from together with the grounds for this exemption, ie which prior qualification and/or unit this relates to. When a student submits an advanced standing application, the system records the claim in the Callista application against the student record and also posts a message in the Online forms and workflow system.
Calista application is a student claim management system and it is connected to a separate database for students’ records that runs in a separate database server. Callista application also connected to Nintex workflow and online-forms system that runs on a separate server.
Calista uses an interface provided by the enterprise service bus IBM App Connect, which is used to instantly connect applications and data. IBM connect routes messages between requesting and receiving applications.
Within this Online forms system, the request is forwarded to the admission officer to review submitted application and required documents. If student didn’t submit all required documents, admission officer will contact the student -by phone- accordingly and put his/her application on hold, and the system records application status as “hold” in the Callista against student record. If student fulfilled all application requirements, then the admission officer forward student’s request to the concerned course coordinator who accesses student’s request on Callista. The course coordinator assesses the claim based on their knowledge of the units and course requirements. Course coordinator can either reject or accept the claim. If the course coordinator accepts student’s claim, then, within the Online forms system, the course coordinator passes the enquiry on to the concerned unit coordinator who assesses the claim based on their knowledge of the unit and informs the course coordinator. Once the course coordinator accepts student’s claim and forward it to the concerned unit coordinator, Callista will interact via IBM connect with “Uni-PDF-Server” that provides pdf generating services for the university based on standardised university pdf layout templates. “Uni-PDF-Server” internally uses the Linux standard printing server CUPS to generate auto-filled PDFs. Once a
pdf has been generated, “Uni-PDF-Server” sends the PDF back to the requesting application, Callista. The unit coordinator will access the generated PDF with all necessary information related to student and his/her claim.
If the claim is passed, then it is forwarded to the University Advanced Standing committee who then decide finally if the claim is acceptable. If it is, the unit advanced standing is then recorded in the Callista application by the Student information officer. Callista connects to a service interface of IBM connect which in turns connects through service-oriented messages to a service of the application “Post-Message”. Post-Message application runs on a separate server and posts messages to students’ mobile phones to inform them with their applications outcome. After that, admission officer will manually print result of student’s claim and forward it to accounting system to update student’s account accordingly.
If the claim is rejected and didn’t pass, then student doesn’t have the option to appeal using the university system. He/she should contact admission office and arrange for new “advanced standing” application.
During claim process, student can’t track the progress of their “Advanced Standing” application through the system, but he/she still can check the status of his/her application by contacting admission office through email or a phone call.
Recognition of prior learning
Recognition for prior learning application process is similar to Advanced Standing process except that Recognition for prior learning cannot be granted for any student completing an Accounting major or for anyone completing the OSH major within a Bachelor degree of Occupational Health and Safety.
Please note that the system does not allow students to submit more than one application at a time. Students must wait for the outcome of their submitted application before they can submit any further requests for advanced standing.
Task 3
Model the “Recognition of prior learning” process from the company perspective using eEPC notation using the Signavio Process Modeller. Consider adding any necessary resources such as: organisation, position/role, system, and/or any data object.
Task 4
Create the “Student Admission” Enterprise Architecture using the ArchiMate 3 model notation showing the 3 core with their respective service layers for the “Student admission” process.
Task 5
List at least five problems in the “Student Admission” architecture and explain each problem and the proposed solution for each problem. Then define new strategy for “Student Admission” process and propose a new TO-BE Enterprise Architecture model using ArchiMate incorporating your ideas. Your ideas must be implementable (don’t assume logic out of thin air). The new model must have all major changes with related minor changes.
