I have learnt from this unit that sustainability is the ability to exist and perform the business operations in accordance with the goals and objectives defined and grow one’s own business organization and its activities without depleting natural resources for the future generation (Newman, 2020). In my own terms, I would like to define the concept of sustainability, the business organizations assumes that the physical, human and financial resources sustained within the organization are limited, and so should be used conservatively and carefully without its exploitation to ensure that there is enough resources for future generations of the society or country the organization is a part of and works towards its social responsibility without decreasing present quality of life of its own and its stakeholders. The concept of sustainable development is related to the concept of sustainability, wherein, sustainable development reflects upon the developmental efforts adopted by the business organization that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Business World, 2021). Thus, there have been various examples of companies that made the world aware about the concept and relevance of sustainability management for its business. They have adopted environment friendly approaches and efforts and are namely, IKEA, Patagonia, Unilever, Panasonic, IBM, Adobe, Nike, and other global brands to be known (Branson, 2016). The companies now-a-days have adopted a great deal of efforts in managing their work through sustainable approach within which they take sustainability led decisions and perform business operations in such a manner that does not hamper the environment and its people. Alternatively, they have adopted the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives as a separate unit of their business that not only motivates them to ensure sustainability management of their business operations, but also enhances their goodwill within the operating industry.
