Yarran was sent to stay with his grandmother to give him a break from school, where he had been having a difficult time. Yarran’s teachers had called him ‘disruptive’ and ‘rude,’ said he was not interested in learning and was suffering from an attention deficit disorder. After talking with Yarran and his grandmother, the health professionals suggested that he may have trachoma. 

3. Pain expression 

Fifty-year-old Janet Mackenzie underwent femoral-popliteal bypass graft surgery on her right leg. She was still under sedation when she entered the recovery room, but an hour later she awoke and began to cry out, “It hurts! It hurts!” Bill, her nurse, immediately administered the prescribed dosage of morphine. This did nothing to diminish Ms Mackenzie’s pain. He then checked her vital signs and pulse; all were stable. Her dressing had minimal bloody drainage. To all appearances, Ms. Mackenzie was in good condition. Robert became annoyed and referred to her as a ’Karen’ when speaking to the other nurses. 

After another hour, Bill called the physician. Despite a slight swelling in her leg, there was minimal bleeding; however, when the physician inserted a needle into the incision site, he removed a large amount of blood. The blood had put pressure on the nerves and tissues in the area and caused excruciating pain
