Assignment Task

IntelliGents Technologies is an Australian tech company founded by two friends who met at university whilst studying their MBA. Since its inception, the company has expanded to fifty employees (including you) and has produced a large offering of tech products which it sells to numerous industry sectors. As of a few years ago, the company started selling its products in four other countries, in addition to Australia.

The founders are hoping to grow their company further in the near future but need to analyse their past sales in order to identify trends that may have strategic or operational significance, and thus, make informed business decisions. You are known around the company for being exceptional at analysing data and identifying key trends. They have provided you with sales and profit data for the final quarter of 2021 and the year 2022, titled IntelliGentsTech.xlsx. You are required to summarise and interpret the data, and then present your findings and recommendations via a report to the Board. In addition, you are asked to present a specialised analysis via a presentation to a representative from either a particular country, sector or product. In your presentation, you are asked to tailor your analysis and interpretation of the data to the representative you are presenting to, i.e., if you are presenting to a representative of a certain country, your analysis should be specific to that country.

You are asked to use both MS Excel and Power BI to perform your visualisation and analysis of the data. The founders welcome you to analyse the data in any way you wish, however they do have some requirements

• You should clean up the Excel spreadsheet containing the Sales and Profit Data, as you see necessary, so that it is easier to use and view
• You need to complete the tables in the Information of Interest tab using Excel formulas
• You should consider the sectors, countries, Australian cities, products and dates in your analysis

For your report, some questions that you could consider to start your analysis are:

• Which month and year had the most profit?
• In which country is the company seeing the most success?
• Which product is the most popular for each sector and each country?
• Which product and sector should the company continue to invest in?

They are also happy for you to present your own insights of the data and look forward to hearing your conclusions/recommendations. For your presentation, you need only to focus on and interpret data that is relevant to your country/sector/product. The representative you need to present to will be provided to you.
