Highlights
Project Description
Design the 1st floor slabs of a 3-storey office building in Melbourne using a flat plate floor system with no beams. Utilize SLB Inducta software for analysis and design, considering loads, slab thickness, reinforcement, deflection, and punching shear.
Details
Tasks
1. Model in SLB Inducta:
Model the slabs of the 1st floor in software. Input the relevant structural data (slab thickness, reinforcement details, concrete specifications), load values (consider loads given above) and load combinations into the software.
2. Structural Analysis and Reinforcement Design:
Mesh the model and run the software to analyze the slabs' behavior under the specified loads/combinations and obtain the design results. Determine the necessary amount of bending reinforcement (steel bars) in x- and y- directions to provide tensile strength and resist structural stresses.
3. Short- and Long-Term Deflection Checks:
Check the deflections of the slabs (one corner, middle and one side slabs) to ensure they meet serviceability and safety requirements.
4. Punching Shear Checks:
Check the punching shear of the slabs at the top of all columns.
