a. Acquire and represent structured and unstructured big data.

b. Design and apply data wrangling and model debugging schemes.

PART A (15 MARKS) 1. Problem Statement and Background: A high-level statement of the problem you intend to address / business case study. Give a clear and complete statement of the problem.

2. Resources: Where do the data come from, and what are their characteristics?

a. The data source(s) and

b. How you plan to obtain that data

c. characteristics of the data you intend to use (Eg. Attributes, data types ..etc)

PART B (25 MARKS)

3. Business requirements: Properly organised data can provide many benefits to the increasingly competitive industries. For example, businesses can succeed by analysing and making informed decisions from the use of data and its analytical capabilities. It will be a great benefit to the company if they can make quick and increasingly complex decisions to cater for the changing demands from customers and evolving market conditions. You are required to design a business model for more efficient operations which can provide significant benefits (e.g., increased profitability, improved customer service, etc.) to the selected business.

a. Research questions: The first thing you need do before you plan to solve a problem is to define exactly what it is. You can translate data case scenario into a question that you can find the answer by analyzing the data set. Eg: what are the causes for heart disease? Predict if water is safe for Human consumption.

b. Business or application areas the project sits in –

• The project may relate to one or more application areas.

c. Brief description of the software - Python libraries that you will use.

d. How to pre-process data for data analytics - identify the appropriate methodologies in data wrangling for your selected case.

Read the case studies (see below) before starting your project. Your findings should be all of your own. If you use resources from elsewhere, make sure that you acknowledge them in your report.
