Currently, radioactive isotopes are in high demand, especially in areas related to industrial production, the medical field, agriculture, and scientific studies. The increased demand has led to a rise in the prices of the associated products. Consequently, its demand in the medical field including in the areas of nuclear medicine is increasing on a regular basis. The increased demand, coupled with its low production has led to increased prices associated with this commodity and hence; making its access among many users a difficult endeavor. In light of these, there is a need for enhanced reimbursement models to stakeholders for improved production of radioactive isotopes. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the methodologies and approaches that can be used to increase the production of radioactive isotopes and hence leverage on its pricing to make it cost-effective among users.
