She has been introduced to the Nursing Council of New Zealand’s (NCNZ) Competencies for Registered Nurse practice of which there are four domains that she will be required to demonstrate competence in as she proceeds through and at the conclusion of her nursing education.   In Domains One and three, two competencies that are required are:

 1.1: Accepts responsibility for ensuring that his/her nursing practice and conduct meet the standards of the professional,  ethical and relevant legislated requirements and

 3.1: Establishes, maintains and concludes therapeutic interpersonal relationships with health consumers.
