Overview
This unit applies to the functions of computer‐aided design (CAD) software programs that are typically used in the production of detailed drawings.
Task
1. Identify an object in you workplace and reproduce it in a 3D environment to produce a 3D model (The object should only have a single part).
- Locate your organisations drafting templates. If you can.
- Develop a 2D image of the object (See Chapter 2 of your textbook)
- As per your organisation’s procedures save your file as if it was an active project, if this is not suitable try and replicate the process on another computer.
- Produce a 3D model form you 2D drawing you created earlier. (See Chapter 6 of your textbook)
- Save your part
- Produce a drawing of your image. The drawing should aim to replicate a drawing used in your workplace. (See Chapter 8 of your textbook)
- Include 2 Third angle projections and an isometric view on the page (See Chapter 8 of your textbook)
- Add dimensions (See Chapter 8 of your textbook)
- Set up the title block with all the information used in your workshop
- Save your Drawing
- Print your drawing
- Save your drawing as a PDF
- Send the Drawing file and PDF file to your trainer
2. Get a printed copy of your drawing from Task 1. Identify Two (2) areas that could be improved on your drawing, indicate and explain this improvements on your drawing. Scan and send it to your trainer.
