Statistics Assignment:

The Ghana Vitamin A Supplementation Trials Child Health Study is a large-scale field trial of the effects of large doses of Vitamin A given every 4 months to children under 5 in a rural area of Northern Ghana. The data available for these sessions are drawn from the baseline survey (i.e. prior to the intervention) conducted in the second quarter of 1990. This involved household interviews with the child main carer, as well as a clinical examination at a central point. Complete data were obtained on 1137 children under five years of age. Questions: 1. To identify risk factors for moderate to severe Vitamin A deficiency. 2. Should an intervention encourage breastfeeding be recommended as a way to reduce Vitamin A deficiency 3. Give a brief overview of the public health implications of vitamin A deficiency e.g., epidemiology, prevalence, burden etc.
