Assignment Task:

Preamble:

The holistic programme approach to assessment is considered integral with the overall approach to learning. Assessment tends to follow the same approach as the learning process – being innovation-based and relating to the students’ workplace or profession. In this context, students are actively encouraged to apply knowledge (what they have learned) to a practical context (their organisation, profession, or working environment). Assessment is made on the extent to which students have been able to apply Module material to this context, in particular, in areas where new insight or procedures have been developed or implemented. Students are invited to ‘challenge’ accepted theories using the flexible framework of the assessment brief to direct their studies through negotiation (with the module leader). This ensures that academic requirements can be met and allows the needs of the individual student, industry or professional requirements to be incorporated. The module contains a large number of sections with short revision questions. Students are encouraged to complete all the short revision questions within the module units and to check on their level of understanding by referring to external sources for validation. Students who are unable to complete the revision questions (to their own satisfaction) are urged to contact the module leader at the earliest opportunity.

Learning Outcomes This assessment deals specifically with the following learning outcomes:

  • Interpret the role and use of knowledge management in organisations and the impact that organisational culture can have on knowledge management.
  • Demonstrate a breath of specialised research techniques regarding the major obstacles of the successful implementation of a KM system in organisations, and determine the strategies and approaches to overcome these obstacles.
  • Validate complex and advanced research skills and contextualise the fundamental concepts in the study of knowledge management, knowledge creation, acquisition, representation, dissemination, use and re-use, and management.

Assessment Task Your task is to produce a 3,000 - 4,000-word project report, which is to be word-processed and referenced. Each student will select ONE Option as listed below based on the module content.
