c) Problem Statement: The objective is to highlight the ways to overcome the market and non-market mechanisms challenges faced and take benefits of these mechanisms to create value from three main intellectual property right such as patents, trademarks and industrial designs.

d) Research Question: Challenges to capturing value from know-how and reputation through the use of different IP tools is an increasingly important matter of strategy for global enterprises. They will need to combine different institutional, market, and non-market mechanisms, but the precise combination of tools will depend on local and regional institutional and market conditions. Although globalization can allow firms to leverage their know-how and reputation through IP tools across countries with a large potential for global value creation, it remains challenging to capture that value. Therefore, the appropriate research question would be “How strong growth in tools used by firms to protect their intellectual property (IP), develop their know-how, and build and maintain their reputation globally during the last decades.”

e) Project Scope:  This study will observe important differences in the origins of this growth. The region it will cover will be worldwide patent and application.
