Assignment Task

You are required to engage in some research into the into the theories or concepts underpinning this topic and other sources in order to successfully complete this assignment. Ensure you include a full reference list, including all sources, using APA guidelines (latest edition). Correct referencing is an expectation of tertiary study. Presentation guidelines:

Work is expected to be word-processed and submitted as a Word document, use a clear, readable font and be within 10% of the given word count (excluding any referencing). Reports should include headings or subheadings as required. Essays should include an introduction, body and conclusion. Spellchecking and proofreading of work prior to submission is strongly encouraged.

Part 1: You have been learning about internal and external factors, and aligned strategies, that can establish and maintain positive workplace relationships.

• Describe 4 factors, two internal and two external that could influence relationships in a workplace.
• For each category (internal & external) argue in favour of one strategy (can address either one or multiple factors) that could be used to establish a positive workplace relationship. Justify why the chosen strategy fits best.

For Part 1, you need to describe 2 internal and 2 external factors from your Study Guide (page 8, Week 2). You need to explain what these mean and how they could influence relationships in a workplace. Then you need to choose one strategy for internal, and one strategy for external factors, and explain and justify why it is a good strategy to use to establish positive workplace relationships, referring to any of those internal and external factors in your discussion.

For example, your strategy might be good workplace communication, and you could explain how this will impact on organisational culture (or trust, or change etc.) to establish positive workplace relationships. I've attached a clip which is a TED talk from Celeste Headlee on 10 ways to have a better conversation. Many of her points are good advice for communicating in the workplace and learning to listen to others. As Sarita Harbour suggests, the key to positive workplace relationships is good communication.

Part 2: It is essential that clear messages are communicated in an organisation to ensure positive workplace relationships are maintained.

• Discuss in relation to communicating one of your chosen strategies to maintain positive workplace relationships in an organisation 
• Select one communication model from the Study Guide to develop your argument.

In Part 2, you are discussing how you can communicate one of your chosen strategies (see Week 6, page 17 of your Study Guide for ways to communicate strategies).
