The objective of this research is to discover the feasibility of the use of the blockchain in giving complete visibility of an entire supply chain network. The research will show how blockchain can enable more transparent and accurate end-to-end tracking throughout the supply chain. It will show how companies can digitize their physical products and create a decentralized immutable record of all transactions, making it possible to track products from sourcing to delivery or use by end-user.

This research is to discover potential attributes of blockchain which can benefit the Supply Chain and answer following questions: -

•  how blockchain can help in providing visibility of Supply Chain Network?
•  how blockchain technology can be used in different industry sectors from agriculture to healthcare and in variously sized companies?
• how blockchain may enable the sharing of sensitive and transactional information?
• how blockchain may help build trust among all the supply chain stakeholders?

I intend to conduct a documentary study and analysis to review and evaluate both printed and electronic material. Documentary research is the use of outside sources, documents, to support the viewpoint or argument of academic work. It is a form of qualitative research that uses a systematic procedure to analyse documentary evidence and answer specific research questions. Additionally, document analysis is a social research method and is an important research tool in its own right and is an invaluable part of most schemes of triangulation, the combination of methodologies in the study of the same phenomenon (Bowen, 2009).

It is an efficient and effective way of gathering data because documents are manageable and practical resources. Documents are commonplace and come in a variety of forms, making documents a very accessible and reliable source of data. Obtaining and analysing documents is often far more cost-efficient and time-efficient than conducting one’s own research or experiments (Bowen, 2009). Finally, documents are stable, “non-reactive” data sources, meaning that they can be read and reviewed multiple times and remain unchanged by the researcher’s influence or research process (Bowen, 2009, p. 31).
