In this task you will prepare and submit a written/spoken interview guide for conducting a Mental State Examination (MSE) and risk assessment relating to a mental health consumer. You will choose one (1) of two (2) case scenarios to base your interview guide on. From the scenario, you will develop and ask questions (recorded audio) to elicit relevant information from the consumer to inform and (later) complete a Mental State Examination (MSE) and risk assessment, which will be submitted as part of Assessment 1 Part B. It is designed to prepare you for real life clinical circumstances faced by registered nurses working in any clinical area, but more so in the mental health arena. 3.1 Task Instructions 1. To complete this assessment task, you must select and review one (1) case scenario (Maggie or Shaun) and prepare an MSE and risk assessment interview guide based on that consumer and the scenario provided. This interview guide will demonstrate your individual approach to therapeutic communication and skills in eliciting relevant assessment data, as well as your knowledge of psychotropic medications and nursing interventions.

2. Using the Powerpoint template provided, write and speak (audio recording) on each slide - as relevant - to introduce yourself professionally, establish rapport, and ask the questions you would use to conduct an MSE and risk assessment (as you would, in person, with a mental health consumer in a real clinical environment).
