Context: (MHP601)
This assessment requires you to critically reflect about the mental health program you chose to implement in your education context.
To prepare for this assessment you are required to draw upon your own development and understandings of mental health that have evolved over the duration of this subject, as well as “Introduction to Mental Health Conditions” and “Mental Health in Context”. Further, you need to consider the range of perceptions the program you selected may attract in your educational context.
You will need to use a person first approach to identify and understand the bias, prejudice and assumptions that you will encounter in your education context in relation to your chosen mental health program.
Reflect upon how you will manage the bias, prejudice and assumptions when implementing your program. Compare the possible views of others with your own and the problem you aim to solve with the mental health program.
Instructions: (MHP601)
Structure your reflection as follows:
1. Determine and analyze the key values you hold, the learning you have gained and the evolution of your bias, prejudice, and assumptions about mental health that have led you to choose this program in your educational context.
2. Now that you have researched and compiled your implementation strategy, reflect on the program you have chosen in the context of a person's first approach and how well it fits a contemporary support practice for people with mental health conditions and their families.
3. Conclude with your vision for the person's first approach and mental health program to educate and support the community about the needs of the lived experiences of people with mental health and their family.
