You are asked to write a 1-page essay in the style of a press release that a communications officer would prepare to alert the media about a scientific discovery.

Journal articles

Choose only one of the three available journal articles for your essay. These are available on LMS, in the "7% assessment" tab. All three articles are related to the rapid identification of bacterial pathogens in a clinical microbiology laboratory.

Target audience

Rather than the general media, the audience of your press release will be your MICR2208 classmates. Your goal is to convince them that the research in your chosen scientific journal article will improve their ability to identify and/or quantify different types of bacteria.
