Marketing Promotion in Hotel industry
Promotion can be conducted off-line and on-line. Traditional tools like poster, billboard and newspaper were very popular in the 80’s. Nowadays Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or Weibo are widely adopted by hotel chains in promoting their business.

If you were the “Director of Sales and Marketing” of a hotel, from your point of view, provide discussions about the possible marketing approach, direction and plan for adopting the online/offline strategy in coming years in order to achieve the objectives of the hotel, i.e. brand-building, attract the right target markets, boost the sales, etc.
 

Guideline:
The discussions can be included the following topics:
i) Discussions about the pros and cons of offline/online promotion tools.
ii) Relationship between formats of promotion, target market, positioning.
iii) Strategic issues for applying online and offline promotion tools.
iv) Illustration by promotion case studies.
v) Evaluation of future promotion trends for hotel industry, etc.
Each student is required to submit the discussion at around 1,200 – 1,500 words in a systematic sequence. (Words for diagrams, charts, photos, and reference will not be counted) Information or data can be sourced via site visit, interviews, magazines or websites, etc. Support your writing with no less than 7 citations following Harvard referencing system. Please type in Times New Roman font 12 on one side only of A4 size white papers with 2cm margins at both sides for Instructors to provide on-going feedback. All papers must be stapled together and pages should be numbered consecutively.

The report should be submitted during the class on Week 9 (6 Nov 2018). Any late submission will subject to a penalty of 10 marks each day. This assignment will weight 15% of your total assessment.
