Question 5 (Marks 10)
In a 2005 conference paper, Nielsen Fellow Tanveer outlined some of the problems faced by interviewers using poorly designed questionnaires. In his conclusions, Tanveer said that interviewers believe researchers are boring people, and that they lose respondent cooperation by:
• talking in language respondents do not understand
• reading, not conversing, and probing without explaining
• making interviewers and respondents jump over endless complicated hurdles
• allowing confusion with telemarketing to continue.
