In particular, this group decided to analyse the hotel accommodation focusing mainly on those with five-star ratings who maintain positive corporate social responsibility. This specific category is significant as five-star hotels are continuously growing, and therefore are assumed to have adopted social responsibility by the time of 2025. According to Mihalache (2013, p. 131), the definition of corporate social responsibility refers to an organisations’ “obligation to protect and improve the state of society, both now and in the future through social actions, ensuring fair and sustainable outcome for the various stakeholders involved.” Many five-star hotels are situated in the CBD, at resorts or holiday parks, and are generally large, attracting majority of the community by responding to their expectations of acting socially responsible.

Vision
As the world is growing and becoming more cautious of their actions, it is anticipated that a larger majority of hotels, especially five-star hotels will be inclined to become more socially responsible in their future practises for a number of reasons. One of which, Burke & Logsdon identified in saying that “CSR is linked to the belief that acting as a responsible organization leads to profitability and good business.” (2008, cited in Maria 2012, p. 38)

Ways in which hotels may do this is by giving back to charities, employing the local community, implementing sustainable practises or using local Australian grown produce in their restaurants. Seoki, L & Sun-Young, P (2009, p. 105) suggest that companies are implementing corporate social responsibility activities as they are responding to growing expectations of customers and social groups, and doing this provides a variety of benefits for the company.
