• Part A: The Patient Scenario Audio Assessment
• You are required to listen to a patient scenario, apply the rapid assessment framework and other assessments and list appropriate interventions with your rationale. This one-hour assessment is worth 60 marks.
• Instructions
• This assessment will require you to analyse the information provided in the audio scenario, then outline and discuss appropriate nursing assessments and interventions based on the knowledge covered in the lectures and during the tutorial and simulation sessions.
• You will have one hour to complete this assessment.
• This assessment will be handwritten and must be legible and utilise appropriate professional language, demonstrating the level of knowledge expected at this stage in the BN. It may be helpful for you to consider this piece of work in terms of what would be acceptable in clinical documentation.
• Any work that is illegible or incomprehensible will not be marked.
• It is strongly recommended that if you are unable to attend any tutorial or simulation sessions you independently work through the information provided on Moodle and the relevant readings from your course texts.

• Part B: Contextual Factors Essay

• Due: Monday, 2 August at 8:00am
• You are required to analyse and discuss the role of contextual factors on the health status of people and their wh?nau. This assessment will be returned within five weeks. This 1,000-word essay is worth 40 marks.
• Scenario 1 Moana Smith is a 72-year-old woman who just been admitted with a stroke. She has a history of hypertension, atrial fibrillation and smokes 20 cigarettes a day. Ms Smith is recently widowed and lives alone.
• Scenario 2
• Sam Monroe is a 17-year-old labourer who recently moved to Christchurch for work. He was admitted with a traumatic brain injury following a motor vehicle accident. Mr Monroe was a backseat passenger in a car driven by his flatmate who had been drinking alcohol. He has symptoms of headache, nausea, short-term memory loss and is unsteady on his feet. He has no other medical history.
