Abstract 
This project takes a look at the design and implementation of a sensor network via the use of a microcontroller, and the various issues surrounding this key, and often overlooked subject. The project also begins to introduce the concept of sensor networks and begins to introduce some real-world devices, where previously the reader may not have known about some of the implementations of this powerful technology. In addition, the project also compares the use of the Arduino and Raspberry Pi, which may be used to explore the advantages and disadvantages of each for this specific setting. One of the actual deliverables of this project is the device, built on the Arduino platform that offers weather reporting and location tracking, with suitable code, also supplied with this document.

1. Introduction 
Sensor networks are a little known but very powerful set of technology that is increasingly becoming more popular as more implementations are realised. This document looks at one of the many implementations of a network of this type and its implementations within. 

Technology such as sensors and sensor networks become more and more within reach for anyone wishing to implement an idea that they had designed. Indeed, with the advent of Raspberry Pi and Arduino, it is becoming easier to create a network of sensors similar to that of commercial implementations for a fraction of the price. It also allows good ideas to become a reality with the relative cost of such electronics so low. While this document looks at the implementation of a weather sensor network, this document will prove useful for implementations for a wide variety of sensor networks, as the sensors used here can be replaced with many different sensors for varying implementations.

Aims of the study 
We have established from previous sections that sensor networks provide a clear benefit to even the most average of the user. Indeed, the user may not actually know that many of the devices they use daily may feature sensor networks at the heart of its operation. We have also looked at similar projects have been successful in increasing their user base considerably.
 
I intend to develop the main aims of the project in this section and these will be reviewed after the design process completes in a separate section. The aims have been set in conjunction with the Adaptive project framework and the management that provides, further details about the justification of this methodology is supplied in the methodology section.
