Mass customization of 3D-printed shoe soles and/or insoles is a growing application of additive manufacturing, which has involved giant shoemakers like Adidas and Reebok in collaboration with researchers in this area. This project intends to offer personalized, 3D-printed insoles using different volumetric pixels analyses provided by HP multi jet fusion (MJF) 3D printer and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) elastomer material, meant to be sufficiently flexible and elastic for footwear applications. Assuming that an individuals may have same show size but different body measure indexes (BMI) motivates us to design and develop insoles that could be tailored to the individual’s BMI and even habits. Therefore, this project aims to fabricate individual specific insoles with various design parameters on the functionality of the insoles.

Expected outcomes – what will the deliverable be at the end of the project

At the end of this project, the student/s should be able to deliver a model that reflects the comfortability of the 3D-printed insole based on the same size of individuals with different BMI.

To successfully accomplish this project the students, need to have/develop knowledge in computer aided design (CAD), numerical modeling in ANSYS, and 3D printing.
