Scenario

Sri Lanka as a developing country has seen a rapid development during the past few decades. With ending of the three-decade long conflict, the development has reached unprecedented levels. Colombo city as the capital and the economic hub of the country has seen most of this growth.

In terms of infrastructure development, several mega scale transportation projects are in pipe line such as Light Rail Transit Project, Railway Electrification, Bus Rapid Transit Systems and Introduction of luxury buses.

However, with the ever-increasing traffic congestion, it is decided to go ahead with a “Light Rail Transit Project” starting from Colombo Fort to Malabe, This proposed project has been terminated by the government however assume that the government is planning to recommence the project.
