Mr Herz a 68 year old man experienced crushing central chest pain which woke him from his sleep. He is driven to the ED by his wife presenting within 40 minutes of onset of pain. Past medical History
• Known ischemic heart disease
• Ex smoker ceased 4 years ago
• hypercholesterolemia
• PTCA and stenting of his right coronary artery and left circumflex artery 12 months previously.
 

Assessment in the Emergency Department

• Danger – Assessed as triage category 1 and treated in the high priority area.
• Response – responsive to environment
• Airway – responding verbally to treating team
• Breathing Respiratory rate 26 not visibly labored. Oxygen 6 L /min
• Circulation HR 82 warm to touch, capillary return 2 seconds
• Disability AVPU- Alert (State or Consciousness)
• Environment- complaining of nausea
• Vital Signs
