3.  Mr. Ron’s partner  Raj organises for a week of respite care at a local nursing home while he goes interstate with his family. 

4. We learn more about Mr Ron’s diagnosis of vascular dementia.

5. Mr Ron develops right lower leg cellulitis while in respite care. He is transferred to a nearby tertiary hospital, where he receives intravenous antibiotics for 5 days. He experiences hyperactive delirium while in hospital. He is prescribed risperidone to treat his symptoms of delirium. 

6. Mr Kumar experiences decline in his mobility and requires a walking aid.

7.  Mr. Ron is ready for discharge home. He had his care needs reassessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) team and will now receive a Level 3 home care package.

BACKGROUND

 Mr. Ron is a 78-year-old male who was born in India and immigrated to Australia with his husband, Raj 12 years ago after their retirement to be closer to Rajs’ family. Mr. Ron speaks Hindi and some English.
