CASE STUDY
Mrs Anderson is a 67-year-old lady referred from NSW on the 16/01/2019. She was confused secondary to injuries sustained in a mechanical fall at home. The fall happened at around 2000 hours on 14/01/2019, when she tripped on the last 3 steps while walking downstairs. Her fall was onto carpeted floor, but she could not get up/mobilise due to pain and lied on floor overnight. She was found by the neighbour who called the ambulance, and she was taken to hospital. Her injuries included
swelling/bruising to the right leg, a large skin tear of her right arm, a distal radial fracture with dorsal angulation and ulna styloid fracture, an un-displaced fracture of C3, and multiple broken ribs.
Primary diagnosis: Fall multiple traumatic injury on background of Lung Cancer with bony metastasis.
Previous History: IHD Paroxysmal AF HTN NIDDM COAD RA OP Lung cancer with bony metastasis Colle’s fracture left two months ago.
Social History:
Lives alone with 2 cats. On home oxygen
