ASSESSMENT TASK 2: DESCRIPTION 
When you undertake your first clinical placement, either as a nursing or midwifery student, an element against which your performance will be assessed is that of safe, professional practice. With reference to the scenario involving Mrs. Barcroft from Assessment Task 1: 
1. Discuss ways in which you could ensure that your practice is professional and safe in relation to attending 
to her immediate hygiene needs. 2. Describe how the issues of professional negligence and informed consent are relevant in respect to the 
way in which the Registered Nurse treated Mrs. Barcroft. 
Support your discussion with reference to either the NMBA Registered nurse standards for practice, or the Midwife standards for practice. In addition, a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed sources (i.e. journal articles or textbooks) must be used to support your discussion. This is a formal academic essay and should be written in the third person and in continuous prose.
