Assignment Task

Dataset

You are required to construct a public survey to collect data, clean and analyse the data, and write a report with your findings. The dataset you collect is required to be GDP compliant, ie in collecting data no personally identifiable details can be collected (such as name or exact address etc). We will carry out the surveys in class.

Data Collection

Data collection will be done via a google forms/microsoft forms/poll daddy/any free online data surveying mechanism.

Analysis

You are required to analyse the data in SPSS. Data manipulation etc can be carried out in excel or similar.

Report

You are required to write a MS Word Document report on the data you have collected. The report should include your survey, all charts, tables, relevant analyses and conclusions. As a guide

1. Your report should include an introduction to the problem being considered and why it is of interest to you.

2. The data you collect should collect a mix of categorical and quantitative type data.

3. Your analysis must contain elements of statistical inference such as confidence intervals and hypothesis tests, power calculation analysis.

4. Your report must contain an evaluation of the survey methodology you have used and identify potential weaknesses and strengths in your approach.

Assessment Criteria for the final report

• Difficulty of project in terms of the question you wish to answer.
• Quality of survey design.
• Quality of analysis used to design the survey (sample size calculations etc)
• Descriptive Statistics and summarisation.
• Appropriate Statistical tests including interpretation and conclusions.
• SPSS code and output.
• Quality of report.
