EA Artifacts

The purpose of this assignment is for you to demonstrate your knowledge of the Enterprise Architecture practice and more specifically your understanding of the use of the various artifacts that are part of the Considerations, Standards, Visions, Landscapes, Outlines and Designs (CSVLOD) methodology.

Extensions of Time

Extensions of time for turning in work will not be granted, as the deadline for the work assigned will be communicated and posted on the assignment page well in advance of the due date. Please be proactive with the assigned work and do not procrastinate. Any assigned work not submitted by the due date will receive a grade of ZERO. Please plan accordingly.

Company Profile

In this assignment you will create a profile of the company you have been assigned this should be a 1 to 2 page description of the company, the type of business they are in, total employees, geographic dispersion and other aspects of the company that you believe will be important when creating enterprise architecture (EA) artifacts. Be concise longer descriptions do not translate into a better grade. Technology Overview You will provide.

Technology Overview

this will be your opinion of the general technologies that the corporation will use. This should be based on your understanding of the company and the resources you have examined. This will be the basis for the artifacts that you will develop throughout the semester. As an example if you are assigned a retail company, you can imagine that the company will need very specific technologies, like a point of sale system. Aside from what might be considered “required systems” like payroll and accounting, the assignment is more for you to target technologies that would be specific to the industry domain the company belongs to.

Standards and Visions

Provide a one page abstract for both standards and visions with at least two examples of each type related to the company. As above your abstract should describe the artifacts that you will use and how they will apply to the company. Standards consist of: technology reference models, guidelines, patterns, IT principals, logical data models and inventories. Visions consist of business capability models, roadmaps, target states, value chains, context diagrams and process models.

Landscapes

Consistent with the above provide a 1 page abstract on what landscapes are and how they relate to your specific company. In particular make reference to the artifacts you have chosen (chose at least two) and why you will be including these artifacts in your assignment. Landscape artifacts consist of landscape diagrams, asset inventories, system portfolio models, landscape maps and IT roadmaps.
