Your team has been commissioned by the University of Salford to prepare project proposals for the design, planning, costing, and development of a Micro-Brewery & Artisan Bakery. The site has outline planning permission for a mixed-use development comprising of the redevelopment of the Old Fire Station and adjacent Former NatWest Bank, highlighted in red on the attached OS map.
The proposed building is located on Albert Bentley Place, Salford Manchester.

You will operate in a multidisciplinary team made up of the following disciplines:

Quantity Surveying and
Building Surveying

The following must be considered when undertaking the planning and execution of the project proposals;
• The external façade and juxtaposition must be maintained.
• The adjoining NatWest Bank façade can be reconfigured sympathetically with a potential to extend over the Old Fire Station bays to compliment that’s of its neighboring fire station. The 1 st floor of the NatWest Bank is to be used for educational activities.
• Repair and harness the existing heritage and conservation features of the existing building by providing information for repair/remedial works to be carried out.
• Engage the wider community to establish potential business enterprises
• The building should consider the impacts on the environment and its corresponding carbon footprint; Fire Regulations, Part L of the Building Regulations, Disabled access and acoustics where appropriate.
• Consideration must be made of the adjacent occupiers on the site, including maintaining their operational requirements at all time (car parking, servicing, access, deliveries etc.)
