In Week 2, you will submit a description of your business, product, or service for instructor approval of your topic. There will be time in class to work with your team and prepare this proposal. 
Your topic should be for a business, product, or service that you would like to start (no multilevel marketing structures or non-profit organizations, please). Because this is an applied project and not a research paper, please do not select a corporation such as Starbucks or Coca-Cola as your topic. You are to apply the course concepts to this project. If you are interested in coffee restaurants, for example, you may wish to select your own cappuccino bar as your topic and then use information from companies like Starbucks or Seattle's Best Coffee for ideas and competitive research as you work on your project. 
 

Your marketing plan will be assessed based on the following criteria:

• Integration of marketing concepts • Clarity of presentation, both written and oral

• Completeness of analysis

• Logically supported conclusions and recommendations

• Depth and quality of research 

You may wish to refer to Appendix 2 for a sample marketing outline and content. Your group will be required to provide updates to the class and instructor on your project in class. The instructor will provide further information and a schedule of these updates. 
Groups will present their marketing plan orally to the class. All members are expected to participate. Please prepare a professional business presentation using PowerPoint.
