You are a Registered Nurse (RN) working in the stroke unit, in a new graduate position. Today you are working with Kevin, a 48-year-old Ngunnawal man, who was admitted to the unit yesterday after experiencing an ischaemic stroke. Handover from the previous RN noted that Kevin experienced a Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA) Stroke after a clot occluded his left MCA.
Thrombolysis was promptly commenced on admission and Kevin did not require a thrombectomy.
The stroke has resulted in right hemiparesis and ataxia, dysphagia, and aphasia.
