Scenario:

You work as a network engineer and have been tasked with creating a network solution for a small independent software game company who have just moved into a new building. 
The following is a description of the rooms available and there intended use:

Coding Room – 15 Desktop PC’s
Graphics Room – 10 Desktop PC’s
VR Room – 3 PC’s
Planning Space – 2 laptops PC’s
Testing Room – 5 PC’s
Meeting Room – 1 laptop PC
The layout of the rooms is as follows: 

The following are requirements that the network must adhere to:

•    Ethernet based network for desktop-based computers
•    Wireless access for laptops
•    ISP interface via smart hub located in graphics room
•    Wireless access to allow staff and guests to BOD (bring your own device)
•    NAT (Network Attached Storage) devices are located, in the developers and graphics rooms
•    Printers are in the developers, graphics and board room. 
•    Printers in the developers and graphics room are connected physically but can be accessed through the wi-fi network by the laptops
•    The printer in the board room is connected wirelessly to the network
•    Testing room, graphics room and developers room contain one smart TV each connected physically to one of the computers
•    Board room and VR room contain QHD projector
•    Application and web servers are stored off site and accessed via a VPN through the ISP gateway

The CEO of the company would also like your help with the following decisions:
•    Choice between standard 10/100 Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet
•    Choice between 80211.n or 80211ac wireless standards
•    Recommend network topology/topologies that facilitate speed and redundancy
•    Recommend a NAS device for the network

Part A 

Given the parameters above design a network solution for the software company and present your solution as a report. The report must contain technical content and be well presented using the Harvard APA style of referencing. The report should contain the following:
1. Use a suitable diagram to state and illustrate your network design 
2. Explain your choice of equipment and network cables 
3. Explain your choice of physical topologies based on scalability and reliability 
4. In order to advise the manager on the choice of network card, compare transmission times for the various Base T network cards and wireless standards with respect to transferring 1GB files 
5. Explain how the logical topology differs from the physical one and how this can affect data transmission. 
6. Recommend a NAS solution

The network model should be produced using suitable Network Simulation Software such as CISCO Packet Tracer.

Part B

1) Design the addressing scheme for the network designed in Section A. Create a subnet for the given address (192.100.22.0/24) using fixed length subnetting masking and assign a subnet to each part of the network. Calculate the subnets using the table structure below. Remember that for this exercise you are only allowed to use fixed length subnetting.   
2) Decide which IP addresses will be allocated to each port of each device. 
3) Explore the differences between the fixed length subnetting and variable length subnetting.  Consider which approach you would recommend to the software company and why?
