The firm wishes to earn at least 10% per annum on projects of this type. Calculate the net present value of the project and advise the firm on the course of action to be taken.
2. Harambee stars is planning to play football with Uganda Cranes at the Nyayo stadium. Uganda Cranes has agreed to play the game for a guaranteed fee of $ 100,000 plus 25 percent of the gate receipts. Assume the ticket price is $12.
i) Determine the number of tickets which must be sold to recover the $ 100,000 guarantee.
ii) If Harambee stars officials hope to net a profit of $ 240,000 from the game, how many tickets must be sold?
iii) If a sellout of 50,000 fans is assured, what ticket price would allow Harambee stars officials to earn the desired profit of$ 240,000?
iv) Assuming the sellout of 50,000 fans, what would be total profit equal if the $ 12 price is charged?
3. A sample of 100 Workers’ Union voters revealed the following concerning three candidates; Amos, Ben and Charity, who were running for the union Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. 14 preferred both Amos and Ben ; 49 preferred Amos or Ben but not Charity ;21 preferred Ben but not Charity or Amos; 61 preferred Ben or Charity but not Amos;32 preferred Charity but not Amos or Ben and 7 preferred Amos and Charity but not Ben.
Required:
i) Present the given information in a Venn diagram
ii) With the aid of a Venn diagram, determine the number of voters that were in favor of all the three candidates. Assume that every member of the union voted for at least one candidate
iii) Determine the candidate that went unopposed if a rule of 50% majority were used in such a decision.
4. A company is hiring persons to work in its plant. For the job the persons will perform, efficiency experts estimate that the average cost, C, of performing the task is a function of the number of persons hired, x. Specifically,
(i) Determine the number of persons who should be hired to minimize the average cost
(ii) What is the minimum average cost?
