The name which in the fifth century began to be given to the entire collection of sacred books. It is a collection of sacred writings of the Christian religion, comprising of Old Testament and New Testament. It’s the Holy Book that contains Sources of Divine revelation and sacred tradition that outline significant meaning in the Christian life between God and his own people as humans. The Bible is the communication of contract that was made between God’s and its Christians people. First, the Bible is not just one single book. The Bible is actually a collection of 66 books, which is called the canon of scriptures. These 66 books contain a variety of genres: history, poetry, prophecy, wisdom literature, letters, and apocalyptic just to name a few. These 66 books were written by 40 different authors. They came from different backgrounds like shepherds, fishermen, doctors, kings, prophets, and others. And most of these authors never knew one another personally. These 66 books were written over a period of 1500 years. Yet again, this is another reminder that many of these authors never knew or collaborated with one another in writing these books. The 66 books of the Bible were written in 3 different languages. In the Bible, we have books that were written in the ancient languages of Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, a reflection of the historical and cultural circumstances in which each of these books were written. And, these 66 books were written on 3 different continents: Africa, Asia, and Europe. This is a testament to the diverse historical and cultural circumstances of God’s people. Out of 66 books they divided into two main covenant books they are, Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is the first of the two major sections of the Christian Bible. The Old Testament contains the sacred writings of the Jews. It was written over the period of roughly 250 B.C, but it includes narration of events that occurred many centuries earlier and had been passed from generation to generation in oral form. The Old Testament was originally written in the Hebrew language with a few sections written in the Aramaic language which contain 39 books. The New Testament contains the sacred books that are unique to Christianity. All the New Testament books were written in the Greek language over the period of about 50 to 120 A.D. None of the New Testament books were originally written as part of a Christian Bible, but they were read at church services for instruction in the faith. The collection of books we know as the New Testament began in the late second century, A.D. The church leaders accepted books they believed were based on eyewitness accounts of the events described, while rejecting many other early Christian writings. Eventually, the 27 books which form the present New Testament, along with theJesus’ Old Testament books, became the Christian Bible as we know it today. This collection of books shares a common storyline the creation, fall, and restoration of God’s people that God’s universal love for all of humanity, and a common message for salvation is available to all who repent of their sins and commit to following God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength. The entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, bears the mark of Divine inspiration. 2 Peter 1:21: For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Although by human pen, the Bible is God’s message to man rather than a message of man to his fellow men. This is important because some say that the Bible is nothing more than human writing. It contains all the account of God’s purpose in human likeness for his own images. 2 Timothy 3:16-17: All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, corresponding faults, and giving instruction for right living, so the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of goods deeds. Divine Revelation comes down to us by two means: through Holy Scripture, written down under divine inspiration, and through Tradition, handed down orally from Apostolic times. We read the Bible with great respect, for it is the Word of God. We treat Tradition with as great reverence, for God speaks through Tradition as well. It is wrong to believe the Bible alone without Tradition. That is like believing the Word of God written in the morning and denying it spoken in the afternoon. Sacred Tradition is the oral teaching of Jesus Christ handed down to his apostles, who in turn handed it down to their disciples (the early Church Fathers), and then to the next generation, and then finally to us. God wanted divine Tradition preserved and honored because he made it part of the deposit of faith. As St. Paul affirmed, “I commend you because you … maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you” (1 Cor 11:2; cf. 2 Thes 2:15; 3:6). Arguing against this, Protestants claim that all Tradition is man-made, not coming from God, but made by those in the Church who have the power to teach. Foremost, it’s an amazingly detailed and well-preserved picture of an ancient culture. The Bible can help us understand who we are based on the descriptions and stories of people who lived two to four millennia ago. It shows the development of Hebrew culture over a long period of time, helping us to understand how cultures rise and fall. The primary thing to say is, when Jesus Christ came into the world as the long-expected Messiah of the Old Testament, a profound and dramatic change happened in the way we handle the Old Testament. This is because Jesus was the fulfillment that’s the key New Testament word, the fulfillment and the goal of so much Old Testament religion. For example, Jesus was the fulfillment of all the Old Testament animal sacrifices, which were offered as a temporary way of pointing to the way God covers sins. The entire sacrificial system comes to an end in Jesus. We don’t need sacrifices anymore because Jesus was the complete sacrifice himself. He also is the high priest the final and complete who mediates between man and God so that the sacrificial system and the priestly ministry of the sacrifices go away. We have a high priest that takes us right into the throne of grace, personally. One of the most important things about the Bible is that it tells the story of the Creator and his creation. It shares how humans are capable of great things, but also terrible things. It shows us how much the Creator cares for his wayward creation and what he has done to rescue it. The Bible shares how Jesus, Israel’s long-awaited King, was born humbly, how he loved and served the sinful and outcasts of the world. It tells us how he confronted the powerful and called all people to repent to turn away from sin which is our disobedience and our self-reliant attempts to control and manipulate in order to hang on to power. The Bible tells the story of Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and ascension, how his came to save mankind from an eternity apart from God. In the Bible, we learn that Jesus promised all who turn from their evil and selfish ways and agree that he is Lord and Savior will have eternal life. John:14-6, Jesus states that he is the way the truth and the life no one goes to the father except by him. In our conclusion it is clearly stated that Jesus is the complete Divine Revelation who fulfil himself as the promise messiah of all creation and mankind. God the Son, the divine Word, became man to save mankind. Likewise, to reveal himself to humanity, God speaks to them with human words. All these expresses the love that he has for us because we are his image. His father God manifests himself to humanity through works of creation (natural revelation). He also reveals himself to us directly thorough (supernatural revelation) by speaking to all mankind through some chosen individuals. This is properly called revelation. If the Bible is the inspired Word of God and clearly the evidence indicates that it is then surely intelligent men and women will want to give their attention to it. It is only by means of this medium that God communicates His will to humanity in this age.
