Assessment Overview
Passive penetration attacks with social engineering elements are a serious security threat to the corporate environment. Malicious attackers gather the information of target victims and email the victims with messages appearing as job seeking or professional events.
Brief detail: The group will present four social engineering strategies to target Bill Gates using information sourced from the internet. Each group member will be responsible for researching one strategy, including describing the strategy in detail and explaining how the gathered information could be used to draft phishing and non-phishing emails.
The yellow highlighted parts are written by me so the expert can understand it. This is a group presentation, but I have put my parts only so that it is easier to understand. Part A is my part of the presentation to be done in PowerPoint slides answering all 3 questions. It can be 5-6 slides more or less.
Part B is emails to be written to bill gates which should be phishing and non-phishing 10 each.
Part A: presentation Analysis (part A to be done in PowerPoint)
1.Provide an analysis of the attacking environment
2.Detail why particular strategy/strategies were chosen
(strategies that were chosen are spearphising, whaling/ceo fraud, watering hole and quid pro quo) Describe why they were chosen.
3.Describe how you would use the gathered information to draft 10 phishing messages and 10 non- phishing messages, including some examples
Part B: Part b is separate than part A as in part B 10 phishing and 10 non- phishing emails to be written to bill gates in notes and saved separately as .txt files as required. please note there should be 20 files altogether for this part.
You will submit ten phishing and ten non-phishing messages as .txt files (message only, no email header or attachment) illustrating all four social engineering strategies covered in your group presentation.
Please use the naming convention below:
My student id is s4648248
Phishing messages should be named as:
[student-id]-01-phishing.txt
[student-id]-02-phishing.txt and so on up to 10.
