Overview
Welcome to Communication Skills for Nurses and Midwives (NUM1102).
This unit introduces the student to interpersonal and professional modes of communication and conduct that support effective and efficient functioning of clients, colleagues and institutions. Oral and written communication skills including effective listening, professional and therapeutic relationships and managing difficult situations are a feature of this unit. Students will use role play to develop their skills in giving and receiving feedback, reflective thinking, decision making and managing professional conduct issues. Academic literacy will be introduced as a foundation to a successful professional discourse.
