Presentation of a Quality Improvement Proposal 

The aim of this assessment task is to demonstrate your understanding of quality improvement methodology and the application of quality improvement initiatives to improve health care practise and outcomes. It will also give you the opportunity to consider the nurse or midwives role in implementing quality improvement initiatives and the use of evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes or experience.

For this assessment you are required to create a ten-mnute presentation to propose a quality improvement initiative. Your audience is your ward colleagues - it is your responsibility to use this presentation to encourage their engagement with the initiative.

• Background - Establish the context/need for the improvement activity. Link the QI activity to one of the eight NSQHS standards.
• Proposed Intervention -What change, improvement or review are you proposing? Why are they required and why should the nurses/midwives believe they are important?
• Methods - Following a recognised quality improvement methodology outline how you will prepare and conduct the improvement activity. Remember to justify each step with evidence. Acknowledge any anticipated challenges and propose how you will address these.
• Evaluation - How will you evaluate the success of the initiative; address why you have chosen this method of evaluation.
