Sally is a Registered Nurse who works on a Medical Ward in a large metropolitan hospital. Sally’s colleagues have noticed that at the end of several shifts the patients in Sally’s care have appeared uncared for and that wet bed sheets have not been changed. They have also noticed that Sally has been spending a lot of time at the nurses’ station, while the patients allocated to her care have been unattended. Her colleagues also recently overheard her at the Nurse’s Station making a comment about Mr Smith who has stroke related cognitive impairment. Her comment “ I don’t know why his family are upset about me not changing his continence aid – he doesn’t even know if he is wet. He has got no idea about what’s going on”
