Brief task description

This assessment requires you to apply the Bystander Training Intervention to a provided case study. You are to create a 7 slide Power Point presentation and upload this with your Voiceover as a PowerPoint with voice over recording that is to be no shorter than 5 minutes 30 seconds and no longer than 6 minutes 30 seconds.

Case study

You are doing a clinical placement on a busy medical ward, and you are working with a Registered Nurse (RN). Both of you attend to Hayma (aged 36 years) who suffered a Thoracic (T11) vertebral injury at the age of 18 years and is being admitted for investigation of a stomach ulcer. Hayma is seated in her wheelchair on arrival and is accompanied by her uncle Arkar. As Hayma and her family follow Theravada Buddhism faith, they eat a vegetarian diet. Other than the impacts of her spinal injury, Hayma is able to self-manage her activities of daily living and communicate well, having lived in Australia since the age of 25 years when her family arrived as refugees from Myanmar. She has permanent damage to her heart as she has a history of severe rheumatic heart disease. The RN assumes that Hayma is unable to communicate for herself and talks only to her uncle who is in attendance for admission.
