Task detail

Part 1: Laboratory Participation (20 marks)

Attendance at on campus clinical laboratory or residential school will be recorded. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their student identification is scanned on arrival and departure from the simulated clinical laboratory to record their attendance.  Students are required to complete the planned learning activities in the Laboratory Workbook (linked to Study Desk) and complete a clinical handover (using ISBAR handover process) to the laboratory teacher of the plan of care for one simulated patient during their scheduled clinical laboratory or residential school. There is no requirement for submission of any documentation for this part of the assessment. 

Part 2: Medication assessment (20 marks)

In this part of the assessment, students are required to complete Assessment #1 within the “Medication Rights: Customised Assessments” module within the Med+Safe program (linked to Study Desk). There is no requirement for submission of any documentation for this part of the assessment. 

The Med+Safe learning materials will be available from Week 1 of semester. Students should complete the learning materials prior to attempting the assessment and should practice within the practice mode until confident to complete the assessment. The assessments mode will be open from Week 5 until the due date for the assessment, however, students will have a maximum of two attempts at the assessment. Students best result of their 2 attempts will be used for their marks (please see table below). There is no requirement to complete both attempts.

Please note: There is no requirement to achieve 100% in this part of the assessment. Students should complete the Med+Safe assessment in its entirety, to achieve the best possible result for the attempt. Do not close the assessment if you get an incorrect answer – this will be considered one attempt, continue to answer all questions. Students who exit prior to completing each attempt will not receive additional attempts at the Med+Safe component of the assessment.
