In this assessment activity, students are to work in groups of 4 to design a peer teaching plan of an education or simulation session for your peers, to teach them a skill or how to manage a nursing leadership issue.

A teaching plan is a document that outlines what you will teach and how you will teach, the resources required and how you will evaluate your teaching. This assessment has 7 steps. Be mindful of your time limitations and that no laboratory equipment will be available (due to COVID restrictions). Please read all the following information thoroughly and read the information for Assessment task 1B to also inform your teaching plan. The two sections of this assessment task are linked.

Students self-select into groups and topics as instructed in the course descriptor and Moodle then develop a teaching plan in relation to the topic. Remember to utilise the marking rubric to help you identify important content to be included.

There are 7 parts to setting out this peer teaching plan

1. Start with a cover page: stating the name of the course, course code, topic chosen and student names and student numbers of the group members. Then in your assignment you should have the following layout:
2. Introduction - The first paragraph introduces the assessment task of the topic selected and the pre-teaching considerations of the target audience– ie your peers. It explores the pre- educational assessment of your peers' student learning needs. It provides a description of the teaching/learning context, clinical learning environments and background of learners and why you need to have a plan. The second paragraph then will introduce the learning theories used to guide the teaching session. It will also consider the learning styles to be considered. Make sure you link the content to evidence and reference accordingly.
3. Lesson plan. Please follow the template of the teaching plan provided in Moodle under the assessment tab. You will need to download the template, save it as a word document, read and follow the instructions carefully. You then need to insert and complete the template as part 3 of the assessment task.
4. Evaluation considerations. In this section you need to write paragraph that will describe how your group will undertake the evaluation of your learners and teaching session in more depth (i.e. you will need to elaborate on what is in your template plan). You will need to consider theory and best practices for giving feedback, assessing learning, and using reflections as an evaluative measure for teaching. You will need to reference accordingly.
5. Conclusion. The is a short paragraph as per the marking guide criteria.
6. Statement of Group Collaboration. This is also a short paragraph as per the marking criteria. This paragraph is not included in the word count.
