This task intends to further develop skill and confidence in collaboration, communication and presentation. In addition, this task is an opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of the key theories and concepts pertinent to health promotion, health education, health literacy and empowerment within promoting the health of individuals and populations.

Description:

Students are to work in groups of 4 to develop a NURSE-LED health promotion program to address ONE identified health issue within their own community. The group is to recognise a vulnerable population within this same community who may be at risk regarding the chosen health issue, and develop a program aimed at ‘making a difference’ to these people and reducing the prevalence of the issue within this community. The program ideas are to be presented in two ways: a video infomercial- promoting the program to a target audience, AND in written form- explaining the background decisions, rationale and processes used to develop your ideas. Both parts of this task are to be delivered via a group ePortfolio page (Mahara). This ONE group Mahara page will be submitted for assessment. This is a large task and will be evolving as we work through the semester content. Therefore, weekly guidance and support will be provided both in Moodle and in class, to help all groups work on their unique program ideas.

Instructions:

• ALL students MUST allocate themselves into a group via the self-select option in Moodle in Week 1. • Groups must submit ONE group contract to indicate group allocation and program idea for approval by staff. • Groups must then follow weekly groupwork guidance activities in Moodle and apply new knowledge from course content to their program ideas, to develop purposeful and effective ideas that aim to achieve realistic goals and objectives.
