Scenario

You are on your 3rd year placement in the cardiac ward, you are on an early shift, it is currently 1000. One of your allocated patients is Mrs Castle who is a 77 year old woman who was admitted to hospital 2 days ago with dizziness for investigation. The only PMH she has is an Anterior MI 4 months ago. She has just rung the bell and tells you that she feels like her heart is racing and she has central chest pain. Her last set of observations were taken at 0800 and were BP 100/70, HR 118 and irregular, RR 22, Temp 36.7, SpO2 93% on Room air (RA). She appears mildly short of breath. She is alert and orientated. Her usual medications are currently on hold as per the Drs order and are awaiting review.

Please provide a plan of care that addresses the actual and potential needs/problems and the interventions required to be able to provide safe and effective care for Mrs Castle for the remainder of your shift.
