In this assignment students must identify a patient in their clinical environment (past or present) who required nursing intervention and escalation for an unexpected acute clinical episode. Students will be required to outline all assessment and management strategies that were implemented for the patient. This assessment and management should cover all team members and overall care to prevent further deterioration. Students should evaluate the assessment and management strategies used for their chosen patient in relation to current evidence for best practice. Case Study Analysis

You will complete the final assessment using a case study profiling a patient from your clinical area that is relevant to your chosen area of clinical practice. The case study will be drawn from a patient who you cared for in your area of practice with the clinical nursing practice topic area being one component of the patient management. The case study analysis will be applied as follows: 
1. Briefly summarise (approximately 250 words) the reason for admission, clinical assessment findings and the broad goals of management for this patient. Highlight a time-line of clinical events that are relevant to the area of clinical nursing practice. Avoid using clinical shorthand and ambiguous abbreviations.

2. Provide an in-depth analysis of the area of clinical nursing practice that you have chosen in relation to the patient case study. Explore and evaluate whether the research evidence related to your area of practice agrees with the actual clinical management that occurred for this patient. In other words, was best evidence-based practice implemented for the patient? Focus on the inherent strengths and weaknesses of the clinical nursing practice that was implemented in the patient case study compared to the evidence. Evaluate the patient's outcome for the area of clinical nursing practice.

3. Develop an argument for how future practice could be implemented (if different from the evidence) or make recommendations on how current clinical nursing practice that aligns with the evidence base should continue.
