Position Purpose

As a Registered Nurse at Federation Health you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our patients.
The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organisation, legal and ethical standards are met. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Health Assistants in Nursing.

Local Work Environment
Graduate nurses will complete four three-month clinical rotations as designated across any of the four hospital sites. Graduates are supported throughout the program by a designated graduate support team of clinical support nurses and coordinator; as well as, ward support from preceptors, educators and the Nurse Unit Manager.

• Division 1 Registered Nurse registered with Australia Health Practitioners Regulation Agency
• Recent successful completion of an undergraduate registered nursing program
• Current police check

• Practices within own scope of practice in accordance with legislation affecting nursing practice and healthcare
• Fulfils the duty of care
• Recognises and responds appropriately to unsafe or unprofessional practice
• Practices within a professional and ethical nursing framework in accordance with the policies of the organisation
• Practises in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of individuals /groups and aligning to Federation Health’s organisational values.
• Acts as an advocate for patients within organisational and management structures of Federation Health.
• Recognises the difference in accountability and responsibility between registered nurses, enrolled nurses and unlicensed health care workers
o Understands requirements for delegations and supervision of practice
o Raises concerns about inappropriate delegation within organisational and management structures of Federation Health.
• Actively promote/undertake self-development and learning.
• Actively support and participate in quality improvement and research initiatives as designated.
• Undertake performance review for each clinical rotation and achieve expected competency levels for each clinical rotation appraisal (formative and summative) as per NMBA standards of practice for the Registered Nurse.
• Successfully complete all of the mandatory requirements of the Early Graduate Program as specified.
