This paper will help you develop a basic understanding of core principles and concepts in nutrition and physical activity, and how they work independently and together to improve or reduce health in individuals and groups. You will be required to become familiar with the Australia and New Zealand Nutrient Reference Values, the New Zealand food and physical activity guidelines, and food labelling requirements. The paper will also introduce several contemporary issues in nutrition and physical activity. This paper is worth 15 points, so in addition to the watching the recorded lecture modules and attending the live workshops, you will need to set aside a few hours each week, for self-directed learning, e.g. doing relevant reading, reviewing lecture, and working on the assessments.
