Introduction
This coursework involves using Object Oriented Approach to design and implement a software solution based on specifications. It is designed to meet the following Learning Outcome of this module, as given in the next section.
Coursework Specification
A number of simple student records are held in a text file. One student record occupies a line of text. Each record consists of five fields (items of data), separated by commas. The fields are:
Family name
First name
Second name (Can be blank, but commas must be retained)
Date of enrolment (in the form yyyy/mm/dd)
Gender (one character, M or F)
Using a text editor, create a file with 10 such records, all different, with dates of enrolment NOT in chronological order.
Build a C# Windows Application, which reads the data and allows the user to browse the data record (student) by record, allowing the user to specify First, Last, Previous and Next by pressing an appropriate button. Typing X on the keyboard should terminate the application.
When the user specifies a ‘Sort’ option, the records are sorted in alphabetical order on the family name. It should be possible to continue browsing.
The application should allow the user to calculate the time between the date of enrolment and the present computer clock ‘date:time’ for each student record. Use the DateTime and TimeSpan classes and set up radio buttons so the user can choose to display the output in alternative units of; years, months, or days.
The application should allow the user to alter the data: this must be done by the use of a second Windows Form. When the data is modified the user is offered the option to save the modified information to another ‘.txt’ file.
You should include the software documentation (structure, description of the software, how to use the program and troubleshooting).
In addition the application should be robust enough to flag an error (and terminate) if any of the following input errors are present in the data file :
(a) There are not exactly five fields of data (including the optionally blank second name)
(b) The number of records exceeds 10
Any record is blank (except second name). Note: Spacebar (space key) is not a ‘blank’
The date of enrolment is in an incorrect format
The gender is not correct (must be the single uppercase letter M or F).
